⁷ ·You will [^LWhy should you…?] discourage the ·Israelites [^Lsons/^Tchildren of Israel] from going over to the land the Lord has given them. ⁸ Your ·ancestors [fathers] did the same thing. I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look at the land. ⁹ They went as far as the ·Valley of [Wadi] Eshcol, and when they saw the land, they discouraged the hearts of the ·Israelites [^Lsons/^Tchildren of Israel] from going into the land the Lord had given them.
